Burn Rate: The 10-Year Run

Pick who you are, then play 40 quarters โ€” ten years โ€” of real decisions. Every choice moves your real FIRE age โ€” calculated with the same compound maths as our FIRE calculator, not arbitrary points.

Choose who you are

These aren't skins. Each one is a real starting position โ€” different age, savings, income and fixed costs โ€” so the arithmetic genuinely differs. Each has their own par, the FIRE age that ordinary play gets them to. Beat your par.

๐Ÿงฎ How the FIRE age is actually calculated Tap to expand

This isn't a score โ€” it's the same calculation behind our FIRE calculator:

  • Your target = annual spending ร— 25 (the 4% safe withdrawal rule)
  • Your contributions = after-tax income โˆ’ annual spending
  • Growth = 7% a year nominal, compounded quarterly
  • Your FIRE age = the year that portfolio first reaches the target

Notice that spending hits you twice: it raises the target and shrinks what you invest. That's why a card that quietly adds $4,000/year to your lifestyle does far more damage than a one-off $4,000 purchase โ€” and why the game is built around that distinction rather than around one-off "gotcha" expenses.

If your spending reaches your income, the surplus hits zero and the projection returns never. That isn't a punishment โ€” it's what the arithmetic actually says.
