Were you paid right — and on time?
Under MGNREGA you are owed a fixed daily wage for every day you work, and extra money if you are paid late. Type in your numbers and see what you are owed.
Check your job card, the worksite noticeboard, or ask your Gram Rozgar Sevak — this is set by your state and changes every year, so type in your own.
Your rights under MGNREGA
- Any rural household can ask for work and is guaranteed at least 100 days of paid work a year.
- Wages must be paid within 15 days of your muster roll closing. Late? You are owed compensation of 0.05% of the unpaid wage for every extra day — automatically, by law (MGNREGA Act, Schedule II).
- Men and women doing the same work must be paid the same wage.
- Asked for work in writing and got none within 15 days? You are entitled to an unemployment allowance from your state — usually a quarter to half of the daily wage rate, until work is given.
If you are owed money
- First, check with your Mate or Gram Rozgar Sevak, or look at the entry in your job card — a muster roll mistake is the most common cause.
- Still wrong? Raise it with the Programme Officer at your Block office, or use "Public Grievance" on your state's NREGA website or nrega.nic.in.
- Not resolved locally? Use CPGRAMS (pgportal.gov.in) — the central government's free online grievance portal for all schemes.
- Delay compensation is supposed to be added automatically by the system. If it was not, and your payment was late, say so specifically when you complain.

FAQ
How much extra am I owed if my MGNREGA wages are late?
By law (Schedule II of the MGNREGA Act), you are owed compensation of 0.05% of your unpaid wages for every day of delay beyond 15 days from when your muster roll closed. ₹6,000 in wages paid 25 days late works out to about ₹75 in compensation on top — small per day, but it adds up on repeated delays, and it is owed automatically.
How many days of MGNREGA work am I guaranteed?
Any rural household that applies is guaranteed at least 100 days of paid manual work in a financial year, shared among the adult members of that household.
What if I am not given work within 15 days of asking?
If you applied for work in writing and were not given any within 15 days, you are entitled to an unemployment allowance from your state government — typically a quarter to half of the wage rate, depending on the state — until work is provided.
Where do I complain about wrong or delayed MGNREGA payments?
Start with your Gram Rozgar Sevak or Mate, or the Programme Officer at your Block office — most errors are a muster roll mistake that can be fixed locally. If that does not resolve it, use the Public Grievance option on nrega.nic.in or your state's NREGA portal, or escalate through CPGRAMS (pgportal.gov.in).
Estimation only, based on the MGNREGA Act's published rules. Not legal advice. Type in your own state's wage rate — this tool does not store or guess it, since it changes every state and every year. Nothing you type leaves your device.
