How much does a cab driver really take home per day?

Using this page's example — ₹3,000 of fares in 12 hours, 20% commission, CNG for 180 km, ₹600 a day for the car, ₹0.80/km maintenance and ₹150 of other costs — about ₹1,000 is left, roughly ₹84 an hour. Your own numbers will differ.

Is CNG cheaper than petrol for a taxi?

Usually, per km. CNG often runs near ₹2.5–3 per km and petrol near ₹6–7 per km, depending on prices and mileage. On 180 km a day that can be ₹600+ daily.

What does "start earning for yourself" mean?

We spread the day's costs across your hours in order: platform, fuel, car, maintenance, other. Once those are covered, the rest of the day's fares are yours. It is a way to picture the day, not how money actually arrives.
